2-Ingredient flax wraps

When & How

These wraps are an excellent alternative to regular wraps – but remember – there are no carbohydrates here. It’s all about healthy fats!

A functional meal should always have a source of healthy fat (the wraps in this case), a source of carbohydrates and proteins. Here are some functional wrap fillings for your brekkie, lunch, and dinner. The serving size is one wrap.

Salty:

  • Hummus, radishes & arugula (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
  • Roasted shrimps, hummus, raw onion & cucumber cubes (lunch, dinner)
  • Warm lima & basil hummus, roasted zucchini (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
  • Smashed roasted eggplants & fresh mint (detox dinner)
  • Curried ground chicken, stir-fried wild rice & salad greens (lunch)
  • Smoked salmon, tomatoes, raw onion & arugula (light lunch)
  • Ricotta cheese & baby spinach (light breakfast, lunch)

Sweet (breakfast):

  • Jam for the blood flow
  • Ricotta cheese, raw honey & walnuts
  • Plain yogurt & berries (or other fresh fruits)
  • Plain yogurt, banana slices & melted dark chocolate (100% dark)

Ingredients

(4 wraps)

  • 1 cup (150g) flaxseeds (+ 1-2 tbsp if needed)
  • 1 cup (235g) water
  • Optional seasonings of choice (such as curry, garlic powder, or cumin)

Method

  1. Place flaxseeds into a food processor and process until reaching a flour-like consistency.
  2. Boil the 1 cup of water in a saucepan and remove from heat. If you are using seasonings, add them to the water.
  3. Combine water and flaxseeds forming a dough (add more flaxseeds if the dough is too wet)
  4. Place dough between two pieces of parchment paper and roll with a rolling pin until 2-3 mm thick. Use a cookie cutter or saucepan lid to cut out a circle wrap. You should get about four wraps.
  5. Place the wrap on a non-stick fry pan on medium-high heat and cook for approximately 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Add your choice of fillings and roll. Go to the “When & How” section to find out some functional combos.

Benefits

FLAX SEEDS

Flax seeds are rich in omega-3 and 6, essential for the healthy growth of nails and hair and the glow of the skin. These essential fatty acids are also important for female hormonal health and help keep blood sugar and bad cholesterol (LDL) in check. Flax seeds also boost the function of the liver, aiding with all its detox mechanisms.
