Colon-cleansing side dish 1

When & How

Lunch: pair with your favorite protein and 40-50g of grains. 

Lunch Ideas:

  • Roasted sea bass and curried buckwheat
  • Grilled chicken and stir-fried wild rice
  • Sweet potato tortilla (2 eggs + 1 small sweet potato)
  • 200g chickpeas (cooked weight)

 

Dinner: use it as a refreshing and detox appetizer or side

Dinner Ideas:

I recommend eating this side dish before eating your carbs to reduce sugar absorption.

  • Pasta “aglio, olio, peperoncino”
  • Quinoa with shrimps
  • Farro with ricotta and thyme 
  • Pizza (you can keep mozzarella, but avoid mixing different types of animal proteins)

Ingredients

(2 servings) 

  • Olive oil, black pepper & salt 
  • 115g fresh mushrooms
  • 1 fennel 
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp dried thyme 
  • 1 clove garlic 

Method

  1. Slice mushrooms. Heat some olive oil in a skillet with the garlic. Cook mushrooms until lightly roasted.
  2. Finely slice fennel and transfer to a bowl.
  3. Transfer the cooked mushrooms to another bowl. Marinate with 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 2 tbsp olive oil and dried thyme. You can add a pinch of salt and black pepper. Stir to marinate all the mushrooms thoroughly. 
  4. Add 3 tbsp of the marinated mushrooms to the fennel salad. Drizzle with additional olive oil. Stir well and enjoy!

MUSHROOMS

Mushrooms have blood-thinning properties and help increase the menstrual flux in the case of a light or irregular period. Mushrooms are also rich in fiber and act as “irritants” to the intestine, helping maintain regular bowel movements.  

FENNEL

One of the most potent diuretic vegetables. Fennel is a ‘must’ against water retention and cellulite! In this case, it will optimize the cleansing action of the recipe.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR 

ACV contains prebiotic fiber, the feed of our good gut bacteria, which makes it helpful to preserve our gut immunity, also known as digestive immunity. Moreover, its characteristic acidity sustains the work of the liver, boosting detoxification processes.

THYME 

Science has shown the potent anti-inflammatory action of this herb that will enhance digestive immunity with the apple cider vinegar. Thyme also contains a good amount of vitamin K, which is fundamental to making several proteins for blood clotting and bone building.
