Hormonal balance

When it comes to hormonal balance, the key is providing the body with the proper amount of carbs, fats and protein. I studied this menu to nourish the hormones with the right micronutrients, macronutrients and a touch of phytoestrogens.

Suggested herbal supplement: Vitex (Agnus Castus) by pure encapsulations (225mg, 1 capsule before going to bed, for 3 months)

BREAKFAST

Cereal bowl

 

  • 50g whole grains. Choose one of the following: oat flakes, quinoa flakes, farro flakes or buckwheat flakes
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • ¼ papaya (normal size), cut into cubes
  • 1 tbsp cacao nibs
  • 1 tsp almond butter 
  • 1 tsp bee pollen (optional)
  • Cinnamon powder
LUNCH

Refreshing bowl

 

*You can substitute the apple with 40g quinoa, wild rice, basmati rice, brown rice, millet, or farro

*Add one of the following:

  • ½ avocado
  • 5 green olives 
  • 2 tsp pumpkin seeds
  • 2 tsp hemp seeds

What to drink: a cup of green tea, black coffee/espresso, or chicory coffee (Suggested time: 15-20 minutes after breakfast)

DINNER

Pasta bowl

 

  • 70-90g pasta. Choose between lentil pasta, chickpea pasta, bean pasta, whole wheat pasta, quinoa pasta, buckwheat pasta, brown rice pasta

Choose one of the following sauces: 

  • Beet sauce
  • “Alle Vongole” (with clams) – if using jarred clams, rinse well under water before using and sauté in olive oil and parsley
  • Arugula & shrimps – Sauté 4-5 shrimps in evo oil, garlic & arugula. At the really end, add pasta and stir well.
  • “Alla Norma” (with tomato sauce, ricotta and eggplant) – cut ¼ eggplant into small cubes. Cook in evo oil and optional garlic. Add 50g ricotta (better if organic)
  • Capers, oregano and pine nuts – 2-3 tbsp natural capers, oregano & 2 tsp dry-roasted pine nuts

Side:  Grilled radicchio or grilled endives – drizzle with evo oil and chili flakes
